An Engagement by Contract, But the Hong Kong Tycoon Took It Seriously

[Two equally strong leads + engagement of convenience + career-focused heroine + the powerful one bows his head + pretend relationship turns real + seven-year age gap + both leads are each other’s only ones + happy ending]

At the centennial celebration of Tingchao Hotel, Song Zhiwei was cornered in front of everyone by her fiancé and cousin, who had joined forces against her. The hotel was going to be sold, and she was about to be kicked out. To save Tingchao, which her mother had left her, she grabbed a stranger in front of the crowd and offered him thirty million: “Come onstage with me and tell everyone you’re my new fiancé.”

She thought she was buying fifteen minutes of his time. But after the press conference, the man revealed who he was: He Tingzhou, the most untouchable power broker in Hong Kong, and the largest creditor with Tingchao’s fate in his hands.

She used his identity to save the hotel; he used her access to investigate a cold case from twelve years ago. They signed a ninety-day agreement: publicly, they would be engaged; privately, each would get what they wanted. Whoever fell in love first would lose.

Later, Song Zhiwei turned the tables at a board meeting and personally pulled Tingchao back from the brink amid a cash-flow crisis and the battle to reopen the hotel. He Tingzhou, who had always kept risk under control, was the first to lose his composure before their agreement expired.

Everyone thought she had latched onto a Hong Kong magnate. Only she knew that what he ultimately placed in her hands was more than the debt and the truth. He also gave her the right to make her own decisions about her life.
