Dai Tianli (Wei Zi), the young master of the Dai family in Chengde, Rehe, is fearless and as true to his word as a man can be. After killing two foreigners, he becomes a wanted man and flees his hometown to lie low as the whole city erupts in an uproar. In the blink of an eye, the Qing Empire collapses and the Republic takes its place. Tianli eventually makes his way back to Rehe. His father has nearly been executed, his master has had his hamstrings severed by his fellow disciple Na Tulu (Zhang Yonggang), and the devoted Na Suzhi (Yue Lina) has been waiting anxiously for Tianli to return and marry her. This man truly doesn't get a moment's rest. To make matters worse, Tianli gets mixed up with the Beggars' Gang, a band of vagrants.
