Ten thousand years ago, a cataclysm from beyond the realms tore a rift in the heavens. The power of the stars scattered across the cosmos leaked out, plunging the continent's living beings into misery.
The strongest member of humanity, the Eternal Star Emperor, merged with the Dao and sealed the shattered stellar power within the continent's ley lines. From then on, all living things could awaken a “Star Soul,” use it to commune with the heavens, and cultivate stellar power.
Before the Star Emperor fell, he left behind a prophecy: “The rift in the heavens appears once every ten thousand years. When the Star Devourer returns, it may bring an end, or a new beginning.”
