Gu Ye, a young man from Poor Star, picked up a black crystal in an abandoned mining area. There is a voice in the crystal, calling itself Zero, the last survivor of the universe. It lives in symbiosis with Gu Ye, feeding on emotions and elemental energy - every time it devours it, Zero grows by one point, and Gu Ye's abilities also increase. But Zero could also spiral out of control and swallow an entire planet.
In order to find his missing sister, Gu Ye boarded a dilapidated spaceship and sailed with a deserter, a scholar obsessed with cosmic ecology, and a wanderer from a liquid civilization. They traveled through the tides of elements, visited interstellar ruins, and uncovered the truth behind the extinction of civilization. They discovered that their sister was executing a crazy plan - to feed Zero and restart the universe.
But Zero gradually gained his own consciousness while devouring it. It stops being a tool, it starts asking questions. When Zero had to choose what he would become, Gu Ye also had to answer a question: Does a created being have the right to decide its own destiny?
