The day I passed the township civil service exam, I thought my life was about to take off.
Instead, I was assigned to the township government as a communications clerk. I made tea, ran errands, and cleaned toilets, busier than the janitors.
The only bright spot was the woman living next door.
She was a white-collar worker from the big city, pure and beautiful, with eyes that curved when she smiled. Too bad she only came home on weekends to help her mother feed the pigs.
All I could do was sneak glances at her from the window.
Then one night, as I passed the bathroom at her house, I heard the sound of water rushing inside...
Early the next morning, she was waiting at my door.
She clutched a notebook in her hand and smiled at me.
“Hey, handsome, you left something at my place.”
