Chen Lie, a modern special forces soldier, wakes up in a chaotic age after his soul has crossed over, only to find his fellow soldiers pushing him into a ditch to fill it in. He whips around and cuts down the squad leader, then rallies the shattered troops and seizes a grain cart. Wolves circle from the north, the southern court is rotten to the core, and at his side is Zhao Pojun, a ruthless scout ready to turn on him at any moment, along with refugees and defeated generals, each with their own agenda. Chen Lie trusts only the blade in his hand and the road beneath his feet. Since Heaven has sent him into this world that devours men, he will claim every patch of land his blade points toward.
