Zhang Hao transmigrates into the spirit of the Celestial Fate Pearl and binds himself to six-year-old Fan Xian. From behind the scenes, he issues missions, helping Fan Xian study medicine and poison under Fei Jie and learn killing techniques from Wu Zhu, before creating the Tai'a Sword Arts for himself. After eleven years of preparation, his intelligence network spans all of Qing, and his trade routes command half the empire's wealth. When Fan Xian turns seventeen, the Red-armored Cavalry arrives in Danzhou to escort him back to the capital. His fiancée Lin Wanyu, his younger sister Ruoruo, and the capital's many factions are all waiting for him. Zhang Hao's job is to remain the unseen hand behind the scenes and reap an enormous amount of fate energy.
