Several gods sat around, using the human world as a game of cards. The chosen person is the card in their hand, and each card corresponds to a person. The gods never take action. When they play their cards, changes will occur in the world - wherever the cards fall, the reality will be rewritten.
The chosen person is called "Pai Ling". Most card spirits never know until their death that the path they choose is just a card randomly played by the gods.
