The Ghostly Bank: I Shorted the Heavenly Dao

The Heavenly Dao is not a set of rules. It is a debt.

The moment any living being is born, the Heavenly Dao forces a loan of “innate energy” on them, saddling them with interest they can never repay.

While others painstakingly cultivate martial arts and die the moment they encounter a supernatural entity, Qin Chen opens a “Rules Exchange,” breaking supernatural entities down into loans, bonds, and insurance, then selling them to martial artists.

Can't win? I'll lend you a rule that guarantees a hit, for three minutes.

Can't pay it back? The collection specter will come knocking and enforce the contract.

Zhou Hao charges you double. He charges you thirty percent. While others are corrupted by supernatural entities, he shorts them and pockets the difference.

Until a line of black text appears in his palm: [Unknown force detected. It is shorting your credit.]

Qin Chen looks up and sees a row of lights turn on on the second floor of the teahouse.

Only then does he understand that ever since the day he was born, he has owed the Heavenly Dao a debt he can never repay.

So this time, he'll turn the tables: short the Heavenly Dao and make the rules fair again.
