Lan Xichen, an immortal of Zewu Palace in the Ninth Heaven, was wandering through the mortal realm when he found and brought home the young Meng Yao.
He fed him immortal dew, taught him cultivation techniques, and cared for him devotedly as he raised him.
But when he told the boy he would send him to an immortal academy, the boy mistook it for abandonment.
Meng Yao leapt from the Executioner's Terrace, fell into an illusory mortal realm, and endured a lifetime of trials soaked in blood and tears.
When his tribulation was over, he returned to his place in the Ninth Heaven with every memory intact.
Lan Xichen wanted nothing more than to marry and spend his life with him, but Meng Yao, still bearing old grudges, ran away!
Disguised as a golden fox, he hid from Lan Xichen. The immortal academy was soon filled with one farcical incident after another, along with a hilarious jealousy scandal.
The gentle immortal embarked on a long pursuit to win his beloved back, making amends for the regrets of their past. With one wedding in the immortal realm and another in the mortal world, their three lifetimes finally found a happy ending.
