Five-spirit-root cultivators are universally regarded as crippled in the cultivation world. The five elements generate and counter one another, condemning them to remain stuck at the Qi Refining stage for life.
At sixteen, Lin Chen was publicly cast out by his clan. As he lay gravely wounded and close to death, the black jade pendant his mother left him suddenly awakened.
The spiritual roots everyone scorned as useless turned out to be the only key to the ancient cultivation art, the Chaos Origin-Returning Art.
He joins the Heavenly Sword Sect as a menial disciple, crushing every insult and act of bullying as he rises against the odds in trials. The cool and aloof senior sister Su Yanning’s gaze shifts from indifference to a concern she doesn’t even understand herself.
But as his cultivation advances, an even greater secret comes to light: his parents’ disappearance was no accident, the four demonic sects are stirring, and the Blood Demon Ancestor, sealed for a thousand years, is awakening.
When the flames of the war between the righteous and demonic factions spread across the Nine Domains, Lin Chen realizes that the cultivation art he practices is the very source of this calamity.
Even dust can ascend to the heavens.
An unprecedented path of chaos stretches out beneath his feet. The day he returns will be the day heaven and earth begin anew.
