Rebuilding the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom

Hong Qiming, a retired special forces soldier, transmigrates to northern Zhejiang in 1854, during the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom era. When he opens his eyes, not a wisp of smoke rises for miles, and corpses litter the land. Armed with a photographic memory and an upgradable pocket dimension, he crawls out of a heap of corpses. On Lake Tai, he gathers refugees, improves firearms, and opens a trade route to Shanghai. Starting with the three islands of Lake Tai, he saves the people from suffering and defies fate.

This is no simple struggle for supremacy. It is the blood-and-tears journey of a man from the future rebuilding the order of civilization amid chaos. As railways, telegraphs, cement, banks, and schools rise from the flames of war, an ancient empire welcomes a new dawn.

A novel should show us how an era that seemed destined to fall can rise again.
