The Embroidered Uniform Guard: Brothers Turn Against Each Other

My name is Lin Feng. In my previous life, I was a special forces soldier. I took a bullet for my commanding officer, and when I closed my eyes and opened them again, I had become some poor sap who’d been beaten to death.

The original owner of this body was a textbook spoiled rich kid from the capital, good for nothing but eating, drinking, whoring, and gambling. Last night, he got into a jealous squabble over a courtesan at the Hundred Flowers House and was beaten to death by the prime minister’s grandson. When I woke up, I was in so much pain I was baring my teeth, and the ancestral jade pendant on my chest was burning hot.

Well, would you look at that! My head buzzed, and a pocket dimension called the “Heavenly Eye” appeared. It was completely bare, except for the ghostly images of a row of martial arts manuals: "The Formless Divine Art", "Blue-Blooded Swordplay", "Six Meridians Divine Sword", "Eighteen Dragon-Subduing Palms"... My mouth watered just looking at them. Weren’t these the martial arts from the TV dramas? Had I transmigrated into "The Legend of the Condor Heroes"?

Well, if I wanted to survive in a world where human life was worth less than grass, I’d have to rely on my old trade: fighting violence with violence.

I dragged my sick body to the Jinyiwei Hundred Households office to report for duty. My very first assignment was to investigate the notorious rapist who had thrown the whole city into an uproar. Everyone else thought it was a death sentence. I took one look at the case file and laughed. In modern terms, the culprit was a serial sex offender, and his methods left a clear trail.

Three days later, I cornered him in an abandoned temple on the outskirts of the city. The bastard was good with his fists, but my special forces techniques were perfect for dealing with a stupid brute like him. No flashy moves, just a dagger and a few tripwires, and I had him on the ground.

When the System notification rang out and I got a thousand points, the words "Blue-Blooded Swordplay" lit up before my eyes. I knew it wouldn’t be long before I called the shots in the Jinyiwei.
