The Taigong, Jiang Shanglu Wang, was the first king of Qi Dynasty and the first person in China to "take the country as its destiny". Legend has it that on the day when Taigong granted the title of Qi, he lit a lantern in Yingqiu. The lamp uses the spiritual veins of Qi Earth as fat and the hearts of the people as fire. When the lamp is there, Qi is there; when the lamp goes out, Qi's fortunes disperse.
This lamp is not found in any history books. But before going to sea, Qidi fishermen will light a lamp on the bow of the boat, called "Tai Gong Lantern". They don't know why, they only know the rule handed down from their ancestors - if the lamp is not extinguished, the person can come back.
What the protagonist Tian Yan has been doing all his life is to keep this light. He didn't see the lights come back on until the end. But the light didn't go out - he passed on the fire.
