(A friendly reminder: No harem, no formulaic tropes, no System. This is a story about ordinary people facing extraordinary events, about tears and laughter, and about humans and demons.)
Recently, a chronicler of the Three Realms questioned Pan Da, landlord of One Square Apartment.
One Square Apartment is now recognized throughout the Three Realms as a "sacred cultivation ground." Move in and you cultivate automatically, your power rises while you lie flat, and the landlord even mediates relationship disputes. It has profoundly changed life in both the living and spirit realms. The God of Wealth pays rent, demons line up to move in, and even the Dragon King is scrambling to sign a lease. When Black and White Impermanence pass by, they have to greet the place with respect.
Pan Da, meanwhile, is regarded as the "Three Realms' foremost expert on lying flat," the "Heaven's chosen top fugitive," and the "demon world's landlord with a conscience." He is renowned for his "silver tongue that turns black into white" and his "ability to make demons willingly pay rent."
Faced with the chronicler, Pan Da poured out his grievances.
"At first, all I wanted was to get laid off, lie flat, become a landlord, and collect rent..."
"Who knew that before long all the demons would move in? Now I'm drowning in debt, and I still have to set the world right!"
Behold the daily life of a modern master of lying flat: all peace and quiet on the surface, but drowning in debt while fighting against fate.
