Honghuang: I, Crown Prince Li Chengqian, Raise Hell in Heaven

In the seventeenth year of the Zhenguan era, Crown Prince Li Chengqian’s rebellion failed, and he was brought in chains before Li Shimin at the Liangyi Hall.

Everyone thought this would be a final farewell between ruler, subject, father, and son.

No one expected Li Chengqian’s first words after standing up to be:

“Your Majesty, please address me as Crown Prince.”

He told Li Shimin: I know the future of the Tang Dynasty. I know Buddhism’s schemes. I know the Heavenly Court’s plans. I rebelled not to seize power, but to survive, and to keep this nation’s fate from being manipulated like a chess piece by the gods and Buddhas above.

Li Shimin didn’t believe him.

Not until Li Chengqian accurately predicted the demons lurking in the court. Not until he personally killed a demonic spy posing as a minister in the Taiji Hall. Not until the celestial phenomena he summoned shook the Lingxiao Treasure Hall.

Li Shimin had no choice but to believe him.

And so began a war sparked by a mortal crown prince.

He wreaked havoc in the Dragon Palace and stole the Sea-Calming Needle;

He stormed the Flat Peach Banquet and exposed Buddhism’s shocking conspiracy;

He fought the Heavenly Court alone, taking on the Twenty-Eight Lunar Mansions, a hundred thousand heavenly soldiers, the Pagoda-Bearing Heavenly King, Taishang Laojun…

The more he rebelled, the stronger he became.
