Blade Held High Beneath the Mountains

The story takes place in Yinlu.

Three hundred years ago, a calamity known as the "Heavenfall" struck the land. Mountains split apart, and "desolation breath" surged up from beneath the earth, eating away at flesh and sanity. The ancestors sealed the rifts with twelve Mountain-Suppressing Cities, allowing humanity to survive.

Three hundred years later, the old dynasty was in decline, and the Mountain-Suppressing Cities were falling one after another. The court, noble clans, martial sects, frontier armies, merchant alliances, and tribes of the wastelands were all vying for "earth marrow," which could suppress the desolation breath.
