Yao Yao, Drunk on the Spring Breeze

Sweet, airheaded beauty ✖️ gentle yet cunning heir

Zhu Qingyao had been secretly in love with Cheng Xu’an for six years.

At last, on the night she married him, all she received was a divorce agreement.

The man had gentle features, and even the escape route he left her was so considerate it was beyond reproach.

“One year from now, if you want to leave, I’ll set you free.”

Zhu Qingyao held the paper and smiled more calmly than anyone.

“Fine.”

After all, she had hidden her feelings for him for six years.

She could hide them for one more.

So after the wedding, they lived in separate courtyards and treated each other with polite respect.

In public, she was the most proper heir’s wife: she never vied for his favor, never got jealous, never crossed a line, and hardly ever touched his sleeve.

Until one family banquet, when she accidentally got drunk.

The usually composed young madam clutched Cheng Xu’an’s sleeve, her eyes red, and asked him:

“Why do you smile at other people, too?”

For the first time, Cheng Xu’an was stunned.

Only later did he realize:

When sober, his wife wouldn’t say a single word about loving him.

But when drunk, she clung to him, got jealous, secretly called his name, and slowly gave him all the feelings she had hidden for six years.

Zhu Qingyao knew nothing about it.

Every morning, the first thing she did was count how many days remained until the divorce.

Until the year’s end drew near.

Zhu Qingyao packed her things and placed the divorce agreement in front of Cheng Xu’an.

“My lord, it’s time for me to go.”

The man who had always promised to set her free pressed a hand down on the paper.

For a long while, he did not let go.

Zhu Qingyao looked up. “Have you changed your mind?”

Cheng Xu’an gazed at her for a long time, then suddenly said in a low voice:

“Yes.”

“I’ve changed my mind.”
