Beneath the ruins of Loulan, buried in the heart of Lop Nur and undisturbed for 1,600 years, lie nine layers of seals. In 330 CE, the last Black Sun priest sacrificed an entire city to seal an indescribable presence underground. Now the seals are weakening, and fate draws five people, each harboring secrets, to gather here.
Police captain Sali feels an inexplicable familiarity with the ruins; his wife, Zuli Huma, can instinctively read the long-lost Kharosthi script; forensic examiner Su Wanqing bears an unspeakable mission; soldier Ma Long is loyal, yet beginning to harbor doubts; and then there is Han Zheng, a man who defected from the Sand Fox organization.
Only after entering the ruins do they discover that this place cares nothing for blades or guns. It demands only one thing: memories. Each deeper level costs them a piece of their past, and every step forward shortens the time they can remain conscious. But the real danger has never been the darkness underground. It is the secrets hidden by those around them, rising to the surface one by one in their desperate hour.
When trust becomes the scarcest resource, who will make it out of Lop Nur?
It's very interesting. I felt a little bored at first, but it got better and better the further I read. I just couldn't understand it. The first chapter made me a little confused. I didn't know what the story was about (maybe there will be an explanation later?). I'm waiting for you to become popular with Dark Horse Books (then I'll be a long-time fan hehehe😍)
