The Land of Black Mountains and White Waters, Where We Rose

In the thirty-first year of the Guangxu reign, the Russo-Japanese War has ended, leaving the lands beyond the Pass in ruins. Foreign powers circle like wolves, banditry along the border never ceases, and the world is in turmoil.

Chen Huaishan puts down roots in Jilin and joins the Border Defense Battalion. He navigates the competing forces, suppresses bandits in the mountains and forests, comforts displaced civilians, and opens up wasteland to secure people’s livelihoods.

As foreign powers steadily encroach, he protects his homeland and those under his command. Amid the chaos of the White Mountains and Black Waters, he struggles to find a way to survive and defend his land.

Note: This is a slow-burn story. The opening focuses on Chen Huaishan’s growth as he struggles to survive as a refugee, so there are few intense battles early on. Large-scale battlefield plotlines will unfold gradually as the story progresses. Please keep this in mind.
