The peach blossom spirit A Zhuo has cultivated for a thousand years and is just one step away from ascending to immortality. But the Heavenly Dao casts her into the world of Empresses in the Palace, where she takes over the life of Ulanara Yixiu, an empress who lived in loneliness and endured hardship at every turn.
The Heavenly Dao orders her to undergo tribulations and grow through them. Starting as Yixiu, she must secure her place as empress and outlast everyone to become the sole empress dowager before she can continue on the path to immortality.
The original Yixiu was trapped by love, by her position as empress, and by her obsessions within the imperial palace. In the end, she lost everything.
But A Zhuo is a carefree peach blossom spirit who has roamed free for a thousand years. She has no interest in an emperor's love or in competing for favor in the harem.
With the plot at her fingertips and magical arts at her command, she can't be bothered with petty schemes and infighting. She won't torment herself or become obsessed. Instead, she goes with the flow, laying her plans with calm confidence at every turn.
This time, Ulanara Yixiu will no longer be a lonely figure trapped to die in the deep palace. She will become the one and only empress dowager who has the last laugh.
