The Ink-Seal Reckoner: All Heavens, Repay Your Debts of Life

Xie Heng was the most inconspicuous ink-stamp clerk in the Office of Reckoning.

Overnight, the third life lantern went out. A black wooden box recognized him as a debt examiner, and the only thing that surfaced on the seal was the character “Xie.” From then on, he discovered that every cultivation method in the world listed four things: the method, the beneficiary, the cost, and the debtor.

The powerful divided up the costs and buried them in the lives of medicine farmers, sword-forge disciples, and nameless mortals. With document after document, the Office of Reckoning turned victims into “willing debtors.”

Xie Heng had no invincible powers, and he couldn't pass judgment on the world with a single word. All he could do was take up his contract-inspection knife, old bronze abacus, and incomplete ledger pages, investigate the original contracts one by one, find the evidence of debt, and restore the links to those who bore it.

Every debt he settled allowed someone to live. Every time he overstepped his authority, a new life-debt was added to his own account.

As the old case of the Colorless Seal, the Northern Sword Forge, and the final scroll of Taiyi gradually converged, he had to answer one question: If the very foundation of cultivation throughout the heavens is built on a life owed to mortals, who should repay that debt?
