Where Heartbeats Hide

Living under someone else’s roof + beloved of heaven + rekindled love + secret campus crush + class divide + underachiever’s rise + reunion after years apart + rekindled love

A humble houseguest × the beloved of heaven, a secret crush, feelings hidden by both, a sudden and brutal separation, four years apart, and a reunion at the top.

Lin Zhixia is gentle, sensitive, fiercely proud, and stubborn to the core.

After losing her parents at a young age, she had nowhere to turn. The Gu family kindly took her in, and she lived under their roof for three years.

Her grades were always near the bottom. Insecure and timid, she could only hide her feelings for Gu Ciyuan deep inside as she watched him shine.

Her one obsession: to catch up to him, get closer to him, and become worthy of him.

While everyone else played, she studied with all her might, clawing her way from the bottom of the grade to first place in the entire school.

Gu Ciyuan is the ultimate golden boy: aloof and restrained, reserved yet devoted, cold on the outside and warm within.

His family background is exceptional, his looks are top-tier, and his grades are miles ahead of everyone else’s.

He seems distant and indifferent to everyone, but quietly favors and protects Lin Zhixia alone.

He keeps his feelings buried deep and never lets them show. Everyone thinks he can’t stand the ordinary girl living under his family’s roof. In truth, he sees every effort she makes, every grievance she suffers, and every moment of insecurity.

When they were young, she chased after his light, running with all her might.

After they separated, he waited for her to grow up, carrying four whole years of longing.

It wasn’t that they didn’t love each other. They were simply too young, divided by class and status, and unable to love openly or freely.
