Poor in One Generation, Rich in the Next

[Get Rich Quick + Gaming + Infinite-Flow Hunting + Mystery and Comeback + Dungeons] A bizarre VR game explodes in popularity overnight.

Rumor has it that billionaires are trapped inside, losing their entire fortunes, while others become millionaires soon after joining. The money earned in the game can be withdrawn, with the platform taking a 50 percent cut. The blurred line between virtual and real is an irresistible temptation.

Six months after quitting my job, I’ve been scraping by on tasks from various platforms. With a sliver of hope, I log into the game. Every player starts with nothing but a shabby, empty room and a hard bed. You get only ten stamina points a day, enough to forge weapons and hunt other players. Kill an opponent and claim twice the wealth; survive a half-hour manhunt and all the killers’ assets belong to the survivors.

The rich pour money into the game and lay deadly traps, while ordinary people struggle to survive. Real-world wealth is quietly reshuffled inside the game. Accumulate enough assets and you can unlock the Xuanhuang dungeon. An ancient city is engulfed in the fires of war, and everyone whose name appears on the rich-hunter leaderboard becomes a target. The dungeon can only be entered in teams of ten. In a deadly contest, those who survive can claim an entire family’s fortune. The antique prize for the top-ranked player is even delivered straight to their real-world address.

I die as soon as I enter the game, just from lightly touching the window with my fingertips. After scraping together ten yuan to revive, I finally see the deadly high-voltage wires laid along the windowsill. A killer is hiding outside, quietly waiting for me to show myself.

I scramble under the bed as footsteps draw closer and closer. With nowhere to run, I flip the bed over and knock the intruder unconscious. A roaring chainsaw falls right beside me.

Should I stop here and safely claim the bounty, or bring down the blade and gamble on getting rich twice as fast... Break down the door to poverty, and take the road to wealth.
