Ferry Archives

Shen Mo is a criminal psychology consultant with hyperthymesia and mirror-touch synesthesia. He can experience a victim's fear in their final moments, making him the police's only trump card for solving baffling cases, but he must forever endure the endless agony of being unable to forget.

Nine unsolvable cases erupt across the city in quick succession: corpses recreated as famous paintings, voluntary confinement in locked rooms, ordinary people having their identities completely replaced, deaths predicted with pinpoint accuracy seven days in advance... Every killer was once an ordinary citizen, secretly manipulated by an organization called the Ferryman and reduced to experimental material for its study of humanity's dark side.

Anonymous letters from White Night follow him like a shadow. A psychologist hides a secret identity. The car crash that killed his adoptive parents holds another mystery. And within Shen Mo's blank memories of age six lies the brutal truth: he was the organization's very first test subject.

Together with criminal investigation captain Lin Wanqing, forensic pathologist Du Yuan, and hacker Xiao Yu, Shen Mo unravels one psychological murder after another, each concealed beneath the everyday. He uses empathy to see the full shape of evil, even as he searches for himself amid constant dissociation and collapse.

The crossing is open, and the crimes are on record. He is an entry in the Ferryman's files, and the only one who can turn the pen against the entire dark organization.
