Qiao An transmigrates into a book about wealthy families and business rivalries, becoming the newlywed wife of the villainous tycoon Gu Yunting.
In the original story, everyone in the Gu family is wicked: her husband is a ruthless business king who devours his rivals without leaving a trace, her brother-in-law is a spoiled playboy who only causes trouble, her sister-in-law covets her husband every day, and her stepmother-in-law hides a knife behind her smile and wishes she were dead by tomorrow. As for the original owner of her body, she dies in a car accident less than a year after marrying into the family, discarded by her own people like a pawn.
After reading the entire story, Qiao An quietly sets herself some KPIs: stay alive, save enough money, and make a run for it.
She sets out to be the perfect couch potato: sleeping until she wakes naturally every day, doing nothing but eating and sleeping, ignoring the family's infighting and turning a deaf ear to business conspiracies.
But the more she acts this way, the more suspicious the family becomes.
When her playboy brother-in-law is set up in a honey trap, she casually steps in to help, and he drops to his knees on the spot. When her stepmother-in-law plants a spy, Qiao An plucks them out with ease, leaving her stepmother-in-law green with rage. When the Gu family's archenemy lays a trap to frame them, Qiao An turns it around, dismantles the trap, and sends the culprit to prison.
The whole family: ...So much for being a couch potato??
Gu Yunting corners her in his study, his gaze dangerous. “Who are you, really?”
Qiao An blinks. “Your legal wife. The kind who gets room and board. By the way, when do I get a raise?”
