Proper Rule-Based Horror Stories, No Bait-and-Switch

I'm looking for rule-based horror stories like The Zoo Mystery. An ordinary person who stays alert should have a chance of making it through, instead of it being completely dependent on an overpowered cheat that nobody can survive without.
