1. Some of the novel’s plot is adapted from the author’s own love story and those of friends around them, so it should feel close to real life.
2. The friendship between the heroine, Lin Jinnian, and her best friend, Ding Xiaomo, is well worth reading. The bond between girls can overcome any hardship in the world. The author has a best friend too, hehe.
3. Lin Jinnian firmly chooses Gao Qiaofeng twice. She may seem like a lovesick fool, but who can resist the power of their first love? A little secret: I’ve gone back to an ex myself, so guess where this plot came from. You know, right?
4. About the second male lead, Chen Tiansheng, who is actually the male lead of this book: I think he meets every girl’s standards for a partner. After Lin Jinnian is broken for the second time, he steadies her and catches every bit of her vulnerability. Invest in Chen Tiansheng, girls. You won’t regret it. A little spoiler: when he proposes, he says something that makes Lin Jinnian burst into tears.
5. About the male lead, Gao Qiaofeng, who is actually the second male lead of this book: it’s not that he doesn’t love Lin Jinnian, but he really is a “scumbag” of the modern era. Not that kind of scumbag, though. Their campus romance leaves Lin Jinnian battered and bruised, and when they meet again… Well, the Nianfeng ship has its share of regrets, but if you’ve loved each other, then at least you didn’t miss out, right?
6. The other characters also have some wonderful storylines, such as the hilarious everyday life of “influencer model” Li Huihui and her agent Ma Zhe, the heartwarming bond between Ding Xiaomo and her younger brother, and how Qin Sihao, a top-tier star in the entertainment industry, becomes the love bodyguard for his good friends Chen Tiansheng and Lin Jinnian. The influencer and the top-tier star also have their own romance, and after Ding Xiaomo leaves her scumbag…
The best part of this book is the characters, with their struggles, vacillations, and weaknesses. The plot advances naturally, without being forced, and the emotions are well laid out, making it both heart-wrenching and exciting to watch.
