Lin Jie works three jobs and lives on instant noodles to save money, all to support his campus beauty girlfriend for four years. Then she goes to the Jinghao Hotel with some guy who supposedly “can get her into grad school.”
Wearing oil-stained work pants, Lin Jie rushes to the hotel entrance, where a security guard shines a flashlight in his face and yells, “You trash picker, get out of here!”
He takes out his phone and makes a call.
“Dad, I’m outside the Jinghao. The security guard won’t let me in.”
Three seconds later, the guard’s walkie-talkie erupts: “The manager says to get on your knees and escort that gentleman inside.”
