Rei awakens from chaos. The first thing she sees is a newborn baby with white hair and blue eyes.

She has no name, no body. Like a wisp of transparent air, she stays by his side for twenty-eight years. She watches him become the Divine Child, then the strongest, and finally fall beneath the night breeze in Shinjuku. Grief cuts through emotions she hasn't felt in millions of years like a dull knife. She tries to grasp his fading cursed energy, but gets swept into the flow of time.

When she opens her eyes again, she finally has a name and a body. The Jindai family has kept itself hidden for a thousand years, waiting for the birth of this generation's "Child." At five, she is sent to the Gojo Clan, where she becomes playmates with the little white-haired, blue-eyed prodigy. At six, she discovers that she's absorbing his cursed energy. He says, "You can have it. I've got plenty, anyway."

Only later does she learn that cursed energy doesn't come for free. His technique is inside her, along with his mark and a death date that was written long ago: the world's curse.

"Don't go. You're mine." Six-year-old Satoru Gojo tugs at her sleeve.

"Come to Jujutsu High. I'll teach you." At sixteen, he grins cockily.

"You kissed me, so you have to take responsibility." At seventeen, his ears turn bright red.
