I, the Great Sage of Bookkeeping in Journey to the West, Bleed the Entire Celestial Court Dry

After the Havoc in Heaven, Sun Wukong didn't get justice. Instead, he was hauled before the Lingxiao Palace: the missing Peaches of Immortality were blamed on him, the empty immortal-pill jars were blamed on him, and even the injury to Howling Celestial Dog during a mating session was blamed on him.

The one who did the work was punished, while those who took the spoils sat high in the clouds. He could only confess.

The immortals thought the mischievous monkey was taking the blame just to save his own life.

Little did they know that, while making a scene, he'd personally seen who took the peaches and who swallowed the pills.

Wukong loves being framed. For every false accusation he shoulders, he pries a treasure from them to keep their mouths shut. What he fears most is the immortals being cleared of all blame. That would really leave him destitute.

Erlang Shen is forced to cover for him, paying for dog food today and handing over divine weapons tomorrow, until Wukong has him yelling that they're through.

The Jade Emperor sneers, "By rights, a god of your rank has no authority to investigate Me."

Wukong grins. "I'm here to keep an eye on the old Jade Emperor. Who's going to keep an eye on the Tathagata?"

The immortals are about to punish him with three cups of wine when Wukong kicks open the palace doors. "Don't rush. I haven't taken the biggest blame in the Western Heaven yet..."
