Synopsis:

In the fifteenth year of the Chongzhen reign, the Ming dynasty is on the brink of collapse.

Zhu Youhua transmigrates into the body of an idle imperial clansman who can barely afford to eat.

He has neither money nor power, and ancestral rules have him trapped. In two years, rebel forces will behead him.

He immediately submits a ten-thousand-character memorial to Chongzhen and stakes his life on a military pledge.

He will raise three million taels of silver in six months without collecting a single extra coin from the common people!

Chongzhen grants him the Imperial Sword and orders him to investigate the rotten accounts of the Imperial Clan Court.

From then on, the Ming dynasty has a living King of Hell, even more ruthless than the Embroidered Uniform Guard.

He investigates the imperial clan, confiscates the estates of nobles, takes on the Shanxi merchants, and forces the officials at court to return their ill-gotten silver.

By the time the Duke of Chengguo’s estate is seized and the Prince of Chu’s heir has a sword at his throat, the entire court has lost it.

“Your Majesty, Zhu Youhua is even more ruthless than a villain! Please take back the Imperial Sword!”

Chongzhen gazes at the mountain of silver and gives a cold laugh.

“I think Lord Zhu has done splendidly. Who should he investigate next?”
