Great Ming: My Father Is Fang Xiaoru, and I Offer Zhu Di a City from the Start

In the fourth year of the Jianwen reign, the Prince of Yan’s million-strong army stood at the gates of Nanjing.

Fang Xiu transmigrated as the eldest son of Fang Xiaoru, the greatest Confucian scholar of the Ming dynasty.

Remembering how his father had refused to yield even at the cost of his life, and was about to provoke Zhu Di into ordering the execution of their entire clan, Fang Xiu panicked. His father’s nine clans, plus friends they’d picked up along the way, would all soon be lined up together on the road to the underworld!

No way. Whoever wanted to die with all ten clans could go ahead. He was going to live!

To save his own skin, Fang Xiu made a snap decision and did something that defied his ancestors:

In the middle of the night, he tied his stubborn, foul-tempered father up like a giant rice dumpling with a hemp rope, stuffed a filthy sock in his mouth, and personally opened Nanjing’s gates. “Your humble subject Fang Xiu, together with his father Fang Xiaoru, welcomes Your Highness the Prince of Yan into the city!”

Zhu Di was dumbfounded. “You call this man the Ming dynasty’s most loyal minister of all time?”

Fang Xiaoru was furious. “You unfilial brat! I’ll kill you!”

Yet not long afterward, when Fang Xiu brought out a world map, flintlock guns, and steam engines, then led the Ming cavalry to flatten Japan and sent an invincible fleet to plant the Ming dragon banner across the globe...

Zhu Di exclaimed, “My good son-in-law, there’s no one more suited to be Grand Secretary of the Ming than you!”

Fang Xiaoru was won over completely. “My son Fang Xiu truly is the savior of the Ming!”
