During the demolition of an abandoned police station, workers unearthed a human remains from the stair wall. Next to the remains, there was an evidence bag from 1983.
The bag was signed with the name of retired detective Gu Pingchuan. The list of items that can be destroyed is clearly written: the physical evidence with the same number had been destroyed as early as 1987.
Even more troubling is that both signatures are genuine.
Gu Pingchuan was not invited back to solve the case, but was questioned as a signer of old physical evidence. Who is the person in the wall? What exactly was destroyed? Thirty-two years ago, who did he give that bag to?
After the end of the first case, the story only goes back to the past once. Starting from 1983, twenty independent but secretly connected cases will complete the judgment, mistakes, costs and inheritance of a criminal policeman for thirty years. It wasn't until the year of his retirement that he faced again the words he had failed to adhere to when he was young.
