In the twenty-sixth year of the Deep Blue Era, the listening station "Well of Silence" was located 3,200 meters under the sea. Acoustic translator Jiang Ting has a pair of ears that can hear everything: there are 317 kinds of vibrations in the station, and she can distinguish each one; what others hear as "bewitching noise", she can tell that it is a cry for help.
The person asking for help is the Merman Singer, who is locked in a glass jar. The ring pressed against his throat, and he was singing, unable to sing in tune, but he used the last bit of his voice to plead to the outside of the wall, word by word.
What the higher-ups wanted was to label him a "threat", seal his coffin, and execute him. What Jiang Ting has to do is translate. But the more she listened, the clearer it became: it was not a threat, but a warning - "Don't dig the bottom of the well, or the two races will sink into the sea."
The Deep Security Department (Department of Deep Sea Security) is replacing the shark's real voice with a false one, making calls for help sound like a declaration of war. Jiang Ting is the only one who understands the true voice, and the only one who intends to spread it out. But how can an insignificant translator let the whole world hear a sentence that has been replaced?
