[Multiple Female Leads] [No System] [Chosen One of Fortune]
Lin Chen has no ambitions in life. He just wants to lie flat, live off whatever comes his way, and wait to die.
Unfortunately, the gears of fate have locked onto him. Even when he refuses to move forward, someone always shoves him along.
In the 1990s, his parents force him to study in the United States, where he enters a show and casually wins a million dollars.
With a fortune in his pocket, he returns to his hometown in Northeast China. Lin Chen has no plans and just wants to lie flat and teach at the village primary school.
But before he can get comfortable with his laid-back life, one upheaval after another comes crashing down.
When village schools are consolidated, he's seconded elsewhere. His superiors take turns giving him extra training, afraid that such a talented person might run back to the countryside.
He doesn't want to go to the provincial capital, but after looking around, he's the only single person without family ties, so he's pushed into taking on the tough assignment.
Just when he finally works up the nerve to quit his government job and retire to the countryside, the factory buildings his family owns are slated for demolition...
He casually invests in an agricultural machinery factory, which catches a national subsidy program at just the right time. Orders pile up through the year after next.
He reluctantly takes over a coal company, only for coal prices to skyrocket.
He casually buys a few street-facing storefronts, just in time for urban expansion and a commercial district upgrade to send his net worth rocketing.
Watching his fortune grow ever larger, and seeing the beauties he can't escape, Lin Chen lets out a long sigh.
Fine.
If he can't lie flat, then he'll lie flat and win...
