Wuxia: Ambushed by Black-Clad Riders, I Strike Back with a Broken Branch

The wilderness night was black as ink. A company of black-clad riders tore through the silence as they sped past me. The moment their leader glanced my way, killing intent seeped into the wind. Half a mile away, he lowered his voice. “No one can witness our tracks tonight.” Then one rider wheeled back, his sword flashing through the air. The withered branch in my hand was already against his throat. After the crack of breaking bone, I swung onto his horse and gave chase into the depths of the night. At last, the leader ahead reined in and looked back. Three riders were missing behind him. Gripping the reins, he barked, “Who are you?” I rode past the headless corpse. “You sent those men. Shouldn’t you know?”
