Reborn as an Abandoned Farm Girl, I Get Rich Farming and Running a Workshop

Also known as From the Start, Divorce: My Loyal, Rugged Husband Helps Me Farm and Take Down My Enemies

[Body-swap transmigration, fictional ancient setting, farming, family life, taking down scoundrels, building wealth, a little romance]

A modern corporate drone transmigrates into the body of a timid peasant woman in ancient times. She wakes up covered in bruises, with a rusty pair of scissors under her pillow.

Her mother-in-law wants her dead, and her husband is forcing her to make way for the daughter of a silk shop owner. When he pushes open the door, she presses the scissors to his throat:

“Touch me, and I’ll turn you from a student into a corpse.”

She divorces him, gets her dowry back and ten taels in compensation, then returns to her parents’ home, bruised from head to toe.

She expects her family to think her bad luck, but in their three-room earthen house, her father waits with trembling hands as he lights his tobacco pipe, her mother sews a piece of red cloth into the corner of her bedding late at night, and her two sisters-in-law bring her hot water and a warm meal.

From six grains of rice to Shen’s Wild Goods, from a divorced woman cast aside to someone everyone calls “Madam Shen,” she leads her whole family to prosperity.

There’s also the retired officer in the old blue robe. He watches her beneath the locust tree for three whole days.

He’s fine with marrying into her family, or living next door.

“I won’t take your daughter away. I’ll move here and be your neighbor.”
