The Last Human Backup

[Apocalypse + Zombies + No Golden Finger + Humor + Hardcore + Evolution]

Lin Mo, a maintenance engineer tortured daily by morning meetings and food delivery, was still fretting over why his spicy hot pot hadn't arrived when the Apocalypse struck.

Zombies smashed through his front door, his neighbors turned into monsters, and the city's order collapsed overnight. In this desperate situation, a nano-repair core codenamed "Noah" awakened inside him.

While everyone else struggled to survive the Apocalypse, he complained about the AI's rigid ways as he harvested blue crystals, quietly completing his bodily evolution. His strength, reflexes, night vision, and self-healing all improved dramatically. When the ninth crystal entered his body, the core upgraded outright, maxing out its area scanning, combat prediction, and life-monitoring functions.

A thousand civilization observers were scattered across the globe, and he was the only "variable" outside the standard parameters. Infected who retained their memories roamed the building, unknown mutants lurked below, and the truth behind humanity's backup plan lay hidden behind layers of fog.

Lin Mo weighed the homemade spear in his hand and chuckled.

"I made it through work. Surely the Apocalypse can't make me work overtime too?"
