Seeking the Dao in the Mortal World: The Celestial Master of Longhu Mountain in the City

The Celestial Master Ma Qingxuan of Dragon-Tiger Mountain descends the mountain to gain experience and opens the Qingxuan Pavilion in Tianjin’s Drum Tower. One strange local incident after another unfolds: the mud spirit at the Daily News Building, the water monkey at Sancha Crossing, the theater ghost at the Guanghua Theater… Behind every case lies the same formation node. The seven nodes form a circle, with its center beneath the Hai River. Someone is waiting for him to dismantle them with his own hands.

Walking this path with him is a stubborn yet soft-hearted girl from a spirit-medium family. The first time they meet, she says, “I can’t dismantle them all by myself, and neither can you. No strings attached. Are you in?”

It is only after the seven nodes are dismantled that Ma Qingxuan learns he has released a ferocious beast sealed away a hundred years ago. The only way to set things right is to find the seven soul-suppressing nails he hid long ago and set up the formation again. The price of forming it is for the Soul Pearl to shatter once more. The last time it shattered, Zhang Shouyi became Ma Qingxuan. This time, he has no idea what he’ll become.

But he still gets to his feet and says, “Let’s go.”
