Synopsis

A strange knocking suddenly echoed from beneath the Dongzhuang antiques market. The streets cracked open, blood flowed backward, and armored ghosts crawled out from the depths of the city. A Western Regions royal city that had vanished more than two thousand years ago began to overlap with modern skyscrapers beneath the dark clouds. Ordinary young man Gu Chuan was trapped in the sealed-off zone. He joined forces with Wu Taifeng, a mysterious antiques dealer, to survive. They soon discovered that the dead could imitate the voices of loved ones, devour the memories of the living, and even learn to use firearms and vehicles. Official broadcasts, evacuation instructions, and familiar faces could all be traps set by the City of the Dead. Worse still, the city was disappearing from maps and people's memories, while the broken blade suspended above its gates kept searching for someone whose identity was unknown. To rescue his missing older sister, Gu Chuan had no choice but to cross the ghost-infested streets and investigate the pattern behind the ancient city's arrival. Yet with every step toward the truth, reality was rewritten a little more. Only when a second city began to bleed did Gu Chuan realize that this disaster was no accident. It was an old debt, two thousand years in the making, using the hands of the living to open the gates once more.

Lately I can’t find any good male-oriented urban fantasy or modern cultivation novels. Don’t bother recommending filler that isn’t worth reading.

Mystery and Supernatural Stories

Looking for something similar to The Midnight Pawnshop: The Living Must Keep Their Distance. Please, I need a gripping supernatural mystery! No saintly protagonists: they should punish evildoers in their own way, help good people, and tell bad people to get lost. Daoist stories are welcome, including female Daoists. Episodic stories are fine too.
