Nine Gates: Reborn as Huo Xiangu, Kicking Wu Laogou from the Start

In her previous life, Huo Xiangu loved that unruly, arrogant boy who trained dogs with all her heart. For his sake, she swallowed her pride, time and again throwing herself into the Nine Gates’ conflicts to protect him. But all she got in return was a heartrending dead end: in the pouring rain, he followed orders, raised his gun, and personally shattered the Huo family’s last chance to survive.

When she opened her eyes again, it was the twenty-fourth year of the Republic, the very night the two of them had agreed to elope.

Listening to the rain hammer down, Huo Xiangu let out a cold laugh. She crushed the jade hairpin he had given her between two fingers and tossed the fragments into the sewer.

To hell with his undying love! Given a second life, she would claim the Huo family’s seat of power once and for all!

From then on, the Nine Gates lost a lovesick woman and gained a ruthless underground queen.

With a redwood abacus in hand, she swiftly purged the Huo family’s internal strife. One finger shattered a tomb wall; her exquisitely crafted flying needles, infused with inner strength, made the monsters in the ancient tomb spit blood and retreat, while even Zhang Dafu’s personal troops were forced to avert their eyes from her sharp edge.

When Wu Laogou spent the whole night waiting outside her courtyard with a big dog in his arms, all he saw was her haughty silhouette climbing into a sea-blue, cloud-patterned jeep.

Later, the untouchable Fifth Master Wu chased her car for several miles, then knelt for three nights in a row outside the Huo residence, his eyes bloodshot. “Seventh Miss, I’ll give you my life. Just look at me once more…”

Huo Xiangu looked down at him and dusted off her velvet shawl. Her red lips parted. “Fifth Master Wu’s life would dirty the Huo family’s ground.”
