Liu Heng, keeper of the ferry crossing’s beacon, takes over the Night River Lighthouse her mother left behind. She discovers that when she lights a soul lantern, she can cultivate by borrowing the dead person’s final memory, though each soul can be seen only once. Her younger brother has been wrongly condemned as a river bandit and is to be executed. She must uncover the truth before the lantern burns out, while the dead keep forcing her to choose whom to trust.
