A Chinese student traveled through the war in Germany in 1917 and became the aristocratic Junker captain Hirschmann. On the eve of the collapse of the empire, the British blockade, famine spread across the country, and defeat was already doomed. He was familiar with the trends of the two world wars and saw through the nature of the monopoly world of British and American capital. Unwilling to become a victim of defeat, he bucked the trend and survived in the chess game of troubled times, rewriting Germany's fate.
