[Apocalyptic survival + rule-based challenges + infinite flow + Fourth Catastrophe + heroine's growth + a touch of ensemble cast + one-on-one romance]
Lin Ting had made a habit of apologizing.
Her boyfriend cheated, clients harassed her, and her family treated her as a bargaining chip to trade for money. Then, for seven nights in a row, she dreamed of dying at the jaws of the same monster.
The pain of death piled up again and again until she could take no more. That was when she realized she could fight back.
After waking up, Lin Ting quit her job, moved, broke up, and found a new job, all in a single day.
Her new employer was an autistic young man in a wheelchair who did not speak and communicated with the outside world only through a modified robotic vacuum.
He helped her kill the monster that had tormented her for seven days. They had known each other for less than four days when he transferred 2.1 million yuan to her to stock up for the apocalypse.
Later, the apocalypse arrived, and the entire city was transformed into a high-dimensional game. The young man was also changed by the System into the BOSS of the entire apartment building.
As for Lin Ting, the will of Blue Star chose her and gave her the power to create protective rules for the whole city.
The people who used to make her apologize now had to wait for her permission before seeking shelter.
Later still, all twelve cities of Blue Star began calling Lin Ting the “Lord of Rules.”
Reader's Note:
1. This story has a couple and a one-on-one romance. The heroine is not a virgin, but the hero is. I personally don't think that's a deal-breaker, but better to mention it just in case.
2. The heroine is relatively weak early on, but grows into a powerhouse in the middle and later parts.
3. The setting is a fictionalized modern world, with a few horror and suspense elements.
4. The setting is a bit of a mix. It's neither purely a rules horror game nor purely an infinite-flow story.
5. The author is socially anxious and may not always reply to comments promptly, but I'll fix any errors readers point out.
