Great Ming: I Talked Emperor Chongzhen into Becoming a Rebel

[Comedy] [Historical What-If] [Emperor and Rebel] [Survival at the End of the Ming] [System] [Lighthearted Power Fantasy]

The seventeenth year of the Chongzhen reign, on Coal Hill.

The Chongzhen Emperor is about to hang himself from a branch when Gu Chengfeng kicks his sword away.

"Your Majesty, don't rush off to die for your country. I beg you to start a rebellion!"

Chongzhen: "I'm the emperor. Who am I supposed to rebel against?"

Gu Chengfeng: "Start with the corrupt officials' homes."

And so, history took a turn.

The emperor changes into rags and goes on a midnight raid with his trusted attendant. A hundred-household commander of the Embroidered Uniform Guard, equipped with the System, takes the emperor to audit the books, seize grain, repair cannons, and build guns.

Other rebels start with slogans. Chongzhen starts by checking the accounts.

Other armies charge into battle first. Chongzhen first asks:

"Who approved this expense?"

"Who signed for this shipment of grain?"

"Where are my troops?"

With Li Zicheng about to capture the capital, Gu Chengfeng only wants to gather enough troops, grain, silver, and weapons for the emperor.

But he never expected that one casual suggestion to "start a rebellion" would turn Chongzhen into the most earnest rebel in the Ming dynasty.

The emperor becomes more and more like a rebel, while the rebels become more and more like the court.

Until one day, Li Zicheng discovers that after all his hard work conquering Beijing, the city has already changed hands and has an even more troublesome emperor.
