Those Years I Discussed the Dao with My Inner Demon

Gu Yan transmigrated to the cultivation world three thousand years ago, and has been stuck in the Enlightenment Realm for all three thousand years.

Other people awaken their Dao Seeds in just three days. It took him three thousand years.

Others inscribe Dao Marks through insight. He does it by arguing with his inner demon.

Others face a near-certain death during the Heart Demon Tribulation. He raised his inner demon as a roommate.

One day, his inner demon suddenly handed him a cup of tea.

“Gu Yan, I understand now.”

“What do you understand?”

“You’re not untalented. You’re a monster who’s one hundred percent chaos. You can’t cultivate because there isn’t a single cultivation method in this world that works for you.”

“Then what do we do?”

His inner demon smiled faintly and opened a book.

“So I spent three thousand years putting one together for you.”

Gu Yan looked down. On the title page were eight bold characters:

"On How to Fight Heaven’s Will to the Bitter End"

“You wrote this?”

“Obviously. You’ve been discussing the Dao with me every day. Did you think I was listening to all that nonsense for nothing?”

From that day on, the cultivation world gained a cultivator who did things differently.

He said cultivation wasn’t about following Heaven’s will, but talking back to it.

He said an inner demon wasn’t a tribulation, but another version of yourself.

He said order would eventually reach heat death, and only chaos would churn forever.

Someone asked him who his master was.

He pointed to his own chest.

“I taught myself.”

A voice came from inside his chest: “I’m the one who taught you.”

Those years I discussed the Dao with my inner demon, we went from roommates to master and disciple.
