God of the Rebels

A dystopian sci-fi story blended with ancient political intrigue and low fantasy. Since the Supreme Intelligence took control of Sky City, it has solved countless problems: hunger, war, disease, crime, even the need to work. But this has created a new problem. When people can get everything without doing anything, many of them lose their sense of purpose. They can no longer feel their own souls. Some turn to suicide to escape, while others fight back with violence. They want to return Sky City to the way it was before the Supreme Intelligence, back to a world full of social problems. In the end, the Supreme Intelligence realizes that people need hardship to feel their souls. It begins to tolerate rebellion and crime, bringing class divisions back to Sky City, and remakes itself as the city's god.
