From the Start, I Returned to a Crime Scene: Solving Cases Makes Me Stronger

Lin Chuan discovers a bizarre newspaper: a missing-person notice appears before anyone has reported the girl missing, and she is wearing a school uniform that will not be issued until the next day.

When he opens his eyes again, he is back at a murder scene from 1998. The girl who was supposed to have gone missing is standing at the newspaper office, demanding that they take down her missing-person notice.

[Reverse-Time Murder Investigation System activated]

Misstep, Swift Step, Guarding Stance, Crisis Deflection, Soul-Calming Breath… Each case he solves brings down a unique [Verdict] from the void, letting him choose a new ability.

But the more he investigates, the stranger the cases become: a radio with no power calls out names in the dead of night, a dead person’s account comes online at midnight, and a door in a sealed-off hallway seems to lead farther away the more you walk. A ten-year-old girl takes hold of his hand, while a policewoman from twenty-one years in the future asks:

“Lin Chuan, did we know each other when we were kids?”

When old newspapers begin publishing the death notices of people who are still alive, he finally realizes someone is using murder cases to rewrite the past of the entire city.
