S-007 is the eighth-generation Saint Mother System from a higher civilization. Its lifelong dream is to reform every villain in the universe.
It scans a Host: 99.9% likability, 98.5% empathy, 0.3% aggression. It spends the night writing a three-thousand-word report titled “I’ve Found a Treasure.”
The Host is named Lin Zhi. She looks sweet, speaks softly, and has dimples when she smiles. The first time they meet, she pulls her classmate, who has been bullied for a year, back from the rooftop. “It’s really windy up here, and you’re not dressed warmly. You’ll catch a cold.”
S-007 is so moved that pink bubbles practically float out of it: This is a saintly soul!
Until it realizes that Lin Zhi’s heart rate stays at 68 the entire time she does these things. From the first day to the last, it never changes. Every word she says to her classmate lands exactly where it needs to, not a word too much or a hair’s breadth off.
S-007 searches every file from her original world. Some entries have been automatically folded away by the System: at sixteen, the dean of discipline resigned of his own accord. At nineteen, her neighbor moved away of her own accord. Every case is marked: voluntary.
S-007 is starting to get confused. It secretly runs its own diagnostic program three times.
Lin Zhi sucks on a strawberry milk candy and asks indistinctly, “What did you find?”
S-007 doesn’t answer. Because even as she asks, her heart rate is still 68.
This is the story of a saintly System that takes in a hell-level Host, hoping to reform her, only to end up being tamed in return. School life × Republican-era China × mystery × showbiz × palace intrigue × interstellar × Western fantasy × apocalypse × cyberpunk × xianxia.
No romance. The female lead won’t stay for anyone!
